IT-PLM is software programme that enables small-scale food producers to collaborate with consumers by creating together a virtual market or building a regular prosumer Buyers’ Club based on a shared internet-based platform for enabling and settling many-to-many transactions and assuring product traceability. IT-PLM provides also a way to reduce costs and increase sales volumes for food cooperatives and community-supported agriculture arrangements. IT-PLM enables municipalities, agricultural advisory centres, farmers’ organisations, community and NGO groups, who do not aspire to being intermediaries, to organise local markets for locally produced food based on direct selling.
The IT-PLM platform allows farmers to decide on prices and sales terms, providing them with a capability to define and manage their offer and to settle sales transactions. In turn, buyers can decide to purchase specific products from specific producers, select collection points and settle transactions.
